Find New Customers Faster With Shopify Sales Channels

Your storefront is one place to sell. Sales channels put the same catalogue in front of people who were never going to type your domain.

A Shopify catalogue connected to several selling surfaces

Every store starts with the same assumption: people come to the site and buy. For a small share of your potential customers that is true. The rest are on a marketplace, in a social feed, in a search result, or standing in front of you at a market stall. Sales channels are how the same catalogue reaches them without a second system to keep in step.

What a sales channel actually is

A sales channel connects your Shopify product data to a surface outside your storefront. Stock, price and product information stay in Shopify. Orders from that surface land in the same admin as your website orders, against the same inventory. The point is the single source of truth, which is also the reason a channel is different from listing your products somewhere by hand.

The channels worth connecting

  • The Shop app. Shopify’s own storefront app, where customers can find and track orders from stores they already buy from.
  • Google and YouTube. Free listings and shopping ads, driven by the product feed rather than by a separate spreadsheet.
  • Meta. Facebook and Instagram shopping, including product tagging in posts.
  • TikTok. Product listings tied to the catalogue, useful where the audience is already there and buying.
  • Marketplaces. Amazon and regional marketplaces, connected through apps that map your catalogue to their listing rules.
  • Point of sale. Retail, pop ups and markets, selling against the same stock as the website.
  • B2B on Shopify Plus. A wholesale storefront with its own catalogues, price lists and payment terms.

The inventory problem nobody warns you about

Two channels selling the same unit is the failure mode. It shows up as an oversell, a cancelled order and a customer who does not come back. Shopify tracks stock centrally, which handles most of it, but the moment you add a marketplace with its own sync delay you need rules: buffer stock on the slower channel, locations set up properly, and a decision about which channel wins when the last unit goes.

Connect one channel at a time and give it a month. Three channels launched together produce a mess that nobody can attribute.

How to choose

Pick the channel your customers already use, not the one with the biggest audience. A beauty brand in the Gulf selling through Instagram and the Shop app will beat the same brand spread thinly across six surfaces. Each channel carries operational weight: listing rules, image requirements, service expectations and its own returns behaviour. Two channels run properly are worth more than five run badly.

If your catalogue is large or your stock lives in an ERP, the channel work becomes integration work. That is the kind of build we do at The Epixels, and it usually starts with a call about where the data actually lives.

The Epixels is a Shopify Plus agency in Dubai that builds custom Shopify development and runs conversion rate optimization for DTC brands. Bring us the store and the problem.
